When one or several of your teeth have fallen out, it is more than just a cosmetic issue — gaps in your teeth can cause other teeth to shift. This can lead to unnecessary tension when you bite, increased pain when you chew, or even impairment of speech. A bridge restores the appearance and health of your smile by covering gaps using a false tooth supported by either crowns, dental implants, or both. At Concerned Dental Care in New York City, NY, we are proud to offer custom-made bridges with high-quality materials to help give you back your smile. If you have gaps in your smile, please schedule a consultation with one of our New York area offices to learn about your restoration options with a custom bridge.

Missing teeth are not just an appearance problem — spaces in your teeth can have a powerful impact on your oral health. Your mouth is carefully balanced, and a gap may affect how well you can use it. In time, gaps may lead to teeth shifting, causing problems with your bite (overbite, underbite, crossbite) and atrophy of the gums and jawbone. A dental bridge requires the surrounding teeth to be healthy enough to hold the restoration, with sufficient density in the jawbone and gums. When you visit our New York office, will assess your teeth, gums, and jaw during your consultation to help you select the best bridge type (traditional, cantilever, resin bonded, or Maryland bonded) and material (porcelain, ceramic, metal, and porcelain fused to metal).

The receptionist, doctors were very professional and caring. The person from medical billing didn't offer me any payment options such as a payment plan after I let her know I couldn't pay all at once.

Once your supporting teeth are prepped, we will take digital x-rays and dental impressions so your bridge can be created. A temporary bridge may be used while your custom one is crafted. Once your bridge is ready, your mouth will be numbed with local anesthesia. Stronger sedation methods can be discussed if you have dental fears or anxieties or trouble with a gag reflex. The bridge will either be glued in its position or connected to implants, depending on the method chosen at your consultation. We will adjust the fit of your bridge so it feels right in your mouth and remains in place.

You should notice an exceptional improvement in the function and appearance of your teeth. You may need a second appointment to improve your bridge's fit if it feels uncomfortable in the first few weeks after placement. Someone from our team will show you how to care for your dental bridge, including the proper way to clean it and foods to avoid, if any. It's crucial to frequently clean your bridge and mouth because decay can still develop under the bridge. If you properly care for it, your custom bridge can last for many years. You should continue to schedule appointments at Concerned Dental Care to get annual dental exams and bi-annual dental cleanings. At these appointments, we will check the health and wear of your custom bridge to decide if it should be replaced or repaired.
