Dental bonding can treat chips, gaps, cracks, discoloration, tooth length, and more. Dental bonding is a more affordable cosmetic procedure than other cosmetic options such as porcelain veneers or dental crowns and can usually be done in a single visit. It doesn’t need the same amount of prep work as veneers and crowns; however, it isn’t as strong and usually doesn’t last as many years. Dental bonding is ideal for minor flaws, so if you require more extensive improvements, a different restorative or cosmetic treatment may be considered. During your consult, we will listen to your needs and concerns, perform an examination of your mouth, and then discuss your best treatment options.

I had a great cleaning with my hygienist Ms.Facey. My issue is with the reception. When I arrived it was 10 minutes before my appointment which was 11am. I sat there, was not given any paperwork and they did not inform my hygienist that I was there. She was too busy laughing and chatting at the front. When I saw my hygienist was 22 minutes after 11am. I had to go up to the reception area and ask her if she informed Ms. Facey that I was there. She thought I didn’t make it. When it was time for me to see Dr. Schwartz, his assistant asked if I was given paperwork to fill out. I was not. The reception has to do better.

Dental bonding will typically be performed in one appointment at one of our New York area offices. You shouldn't need any anesthesia, but sedation methods can be reviewed if you have dental anxiety or a strong gag reflex — please bring this up during your consultation so we can discuss sedation options when creating your treatment plan and build additional time into your appointment as necessary.

On the day of your treatment, once you are comfortable in the treatment chair, we will apply the bonding material to the desired teeth with the help of one of our talented dental assistants. The resin will be set with a special light before more layers are added. After the layers of composite resin are complete, we will contour and polish the composite resin and your natural enamel for an even appearance.

After bonding, you should avoid foods and drinks that will stain your teeth (like coffee, tea, and tobacco) for 48 hours. It's also important to brush your teeth right after eating to avoid stains. The composite bonding material can also chip, so do not bite down on hard objects like ice cubes, pens, or your fingernails. Bonded teeth need to be cared for like natural teeth with daily brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. Professional dental cleanings at Concerned Dental Care can help to remove stains from the bonding material. With good care, dental bonding can last up to 10 years. At your annual dental exam, we can help you decide if your cosmetic bonding procedure needs to be done again to refresh your appearance.

About Us

Bonding is an aesthetic treatment, so it is generally not paid for by your dental insurance. Our office can talk to your dental insurance company to double-check if it is covered; however, you will probably need to pay for the cost of the treatment on your own. In your consultation, we can go over an estimate of the cost and the different payment options we accept at Concerned Dental Care.

Cosmetic bonding can be a great procedure if you would like to enhance your smile without the expense and time of other cosmetic treatments.
