Thanks to modern technology and many orthodontic improvements, traditional metal braces are more comfortable and affordable than ever. Concerned Dental Care provides a variety of orthodontic treatments to accommodate the many needs and wants of our patients throughout the Bronx, Queens, and New York City, NY. Traditional braces offer fun customizations that are not possible with removable aligners such as Invisalign® treatments. Many of our patients prefer metal braces as it helps them to show off their personality by choosing different colored elastic bands. This is particularly a fun feature for younger patients and teenagers who want to choose colors based on the holiday, their favorite sports team, or school colors. In addition, we use high-quality elastics that don't easily snap and are simple to put on. In your appointment, we will go over your different orthodontic treatment choices and help you pick the method that fits your needs and lifestyle.
Concerned Dental Care Reviews
I took my daughter to Concerned Dental to get her braces done a few times. Each visit I was greeted by Scarlet at the front desk. Scarlet was professional, nice and friendly. She took care of me and my daughter in a timely fashion. Much appreciated. Thanks Scarlet😊
I have been coming to this dental office for years to get my teeth cleaned. I decided to get braces in Nov. 2018 and just got it removed yesterday. My results are amazing. I am pleased with my results and the staff were all amazing from the front desk to my orthodontist. It's never an issue with making appointments and/or canceling. I removed one star because the wait to be called can be ridiculously long some days. Otherwise, I will be continuing my dental care here.
I have been going to Concerned Dental for over a decade now and I love it! My journey with them started when I first needed braces due to a really bad crooked front tooth. In a year and a half I was able to smile again and was the happiest girl in the world. Now, I go for my annual cleanings and I always leave there feeling satisfied with my experience. Wait time is average (10 minutes or so). The front desk staff is attentive and the dentists are very thorough. Personally, I've never been a fan of the dentist because my gums are sensitive but the dentists here take very good care of me!
I like scarlett she is on point with getting stuff done. Both my kida got braces done here it was quick and my kids loved there chinese dentist. The only issue is when calling this place its hard to get though.

What Happens When Getting Braces?
Following your initial exam, a personalized treatment plan will be developed by our orthodontist for your specific case. On the day of your appointment, your teeth will be prepped and cleaned before placing your metal braces. After we've applied the bonding agent to your teeth, then the metal mounts will be put on. Once all the braces are done, we will thread the archwire through them. Then you will have the ability to choose your desired elastic band color(s). The tiny bands keep the archwires connected to the braces. The application process typically moves quite quickly and patients feel little to no pain. You should expect to come back to Concerned Dental Care about once a month to get adjustments and progress exams.
What Can I Expect After Getting Metal Braces?
Traditional metal may make flossing and cleaning your teeth harder. That's why proper oral hygiene is critical to your orthodontic therapy. Before you leave our office, we will educate you about how to best clean your teeth and offer you helpful hints. As a general rule, we suggest that you floss and brush your teeth after each meal. Maintaining all of your appointments and bi-annual dental cleanings may also help ensure optimal outcomes. Typically, most patients wear braces for 1 – 2 years, but your treatment period will ultimately depend on the intensity of your situation.
Once your treatment is finished, we'll take the braces off and fit you for a retainer. A retainer will help keep your teeth in their position. Just like with your braces options, we will help you choose the right retainer to fit your new smile.

About UsHow Do I Handle Braces Emergencies?
When you've got an issue with your braces, do not panic. You may have the ability to address many issues temporarily on your own till you schedule a repair appointment at our office. These issues don't have to create a delay in your treatment. If you feel you cannot fix your orthodontic issue, please call us.
- Loose Band or Bracket: If the bracket or band remains connected to the wire, then leave it where it is. If it's uncomfortable, place orthodontic wax or sugarless gum on it. Occasionally it is possible to take off the elastic using tweezers, so you can detach the bracket from the archwire.
- Loose Wire: Attempt to push the wire back into place using tweezers. If that's not possible, clip the wire with fingernail clippers or little cable cutters behind the tooth that it's securely attached to. If it's causing pain, set sugarless gum or orthodontic wax on it.
- Poking Wire: Put orthodontic wax or sugarless gum on the archwire.
- Soreness: You may have some soreness for many days after each office visit. Chew carefully on sugarless gum following appointments to minimize discomfort. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water and/or take nonprescription pain medication as necessary.
- Loose Appliance: In the event the appliance is poking or sticking you, then set sugarless gum or orthodontic wax on it to stabilize it.
Will My Braces Be Covered By Insurance?
When compared to other treatments, traditional metal braces are usually less costly. During your consultation, we will go over your treatment options and cost quotes so you can select the method that best fits your needs and budget. If you have insurance, we'll call your provider to confirm your policy and determine your personal expenses. If you do not have insurance or need help with your out-of-pocket expenses, then Concerned Dental Care takes several payment methods and can help you find low-interest financing.
